Abundance of Odonata in different microhabitats at an oxbow lake in the Peruvian Amazon

ABSTRACT The relationship between Odonata and vegetation in Amazonia has been studied primarily streams. In this study, I examined the abundance of adult two types (shrubs herbs) surrounding an oxbow lake Peruvian Amazon. Daytime visual samplings were carried out time blocks along transects each habitat. Thirteen taxa identified. Five species similarly abundant both habitats, three used mainly herbs, one shrubs, with no variation among blocks. results suggest that most Anisoptera Zygoptera are adapted to unshaded areas lake. Some also observed during sunless days light rainfall, suggesting they rainy conditions tropical climate.
